Help Keep the Dignity in Charity this Christmas.

 
 

A MERRY VINNIES CHRISTMAS

A Merry Vinnies Christmas was established through the Vinnies Wellington commitment towards providing a more dignified and equitable service, by honouring a person’s autonomy over what they receive from us.

This service offers a shopping style experience to families seeking support over the holiday period - giving people the dignity, ownership, and choice of presents for their children without the cost.

The Vinnies Welfare & Service Hub transforms into a festive toy shop over December, where unwrapped, donated gifts for children aged 0-16 years, are displayed for whānau to come and choose from!

DONATE A GIFT

Throughout the month of November we will be collecting gifts for the Merry Vinnies Toy Shop. To make sure we can meet the need from our community, we are calling on families, corporate teams, businesses, clubs and individuals to donate gifts.

GIFT CRITERIA:

For ages 0 - 16 years

  • Unwrapped

  • New condition

  • Please drop off gifts to the Vinnies Newtown Hub or your local Vinnies op shop.

 

OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT:

  • Donate decorations

  • Donate wrapping paper (and other gift-wrapping material)

  • Donate Christmas food

  • Spread the word!

GIFT IDEAS:

  • Toys, games, & puzzles

  • Small musical instruments

  • Science, craft, or DIY kits

  • Art supplies & stationary

  • Sports equipment/games

  • Vouchers or gift cards (movies, timezone, etc)

  • Hair and clothing accessories (hair clips, scarves, hats)

  • Personal Hygiene items (makeup, perfume/cologne, etc). Must be new, and unsealed.

 

HOW CAN I ACCESS THE SHOP?

Bookings open from Wednesday 1 November.

We ask that people pre-book a ‘shopping slot’. Each slot allows 20 minutes to browse and choose the gifts. Bookings can be made by:

  • Completing the booking form below

  • Call 04 389 7122

  • Email info@vinnieswgtn.org.nz

  • Drop into level 1, 207 Riddiford Street Newtown

If you are an external agency and would like to refer a client. Please use the Client Referral Form below and email to info@vinnieswgtn.org.nz:

ACCESS CRITERIA?

  • Live within the Wellington City area (excl. Porirua & Hutt Valley)

  • Be the parent or primary caregiver

  • Be able to show a Community Services Card or benefit breakdown

  • Picking for children aged 0 - 16 years
